8 GB or 16 GB
The RTX 4060 Ti was sold in two configurations that share a name and a price conversation but not a verdict. The 8 GB card is a strong 1080p to 1440p GPU with a memory limit. The 16 GB card removes that limit, though it keeps the same narrow 128-bit bus.
Before reading anything else on this page, check which one you own. In Windows Task Manager, the GPU tab shows dedicated memory.
If you have the 8 GB card
Treat it like a faster 4060: 1080p at high settings with DLSS Quality is the comfortable zone, and 1440p works if you lower textures. Frame generation helps when your base frame rate is above about 40 FPS.
If you have the 16 GB card
The extra memory is genuinely useful in a large open-world game: you can keep textures high at 1440p without hitting a limit. The narrow bus means it is not a 4K card, but it is the better long-term version.
Is the Ti worth choosing over the 4060?
The Ti is a modest speed bump with the same architecture. If you are choosing between the two for GTA 6, the memory version matters far more than the Ti badge.
Frame generation and the 8 GB card
Frame generation is not free: it needs additional video memory for the extra frames and motion data. On the 8 GB model, enabling it can push a game that was just inside the memory limit over it, producing stutter that makes the feature look worse than it is. If you see that, lower textures one notch before switching frame generation off.
The PCIe x8 detail
The 4060 Ti uses only eight PCIe lanes. On a modern PCIe 4.0 motherboard that does not matter. On an older PCIe 3.0 board it halves the available bandwidth to the card, which becomes visible when the game spills out of video memory into system RAM, and it is another reason the 16 GB version ages better.

Questions about the RTX 4060 Ti
How do I check which RTX 4060 Ti I have?
Open Task Manager, go to Performance, select the GPU and read Dedicated GPU memory: 8 GB or 16 GB.
Does the 128-bit bus matter for GTA 6?
It limits memory bandwidth, which shows up at 4K more than at 1080p. At 1080p and 1440p with upscaling it is rarely the main constraint.
RTX 4060 Ti 16 GB or RTX 4070?
The 4070 is faster with a wider 192-bit bus and 12 GB; the 4060 Ti 16 GB has more memory. We would take the faster card unless you specifically need the memory.
