What is new
The RTX 5060 moves to GDDR7 memory, adds DLSS 4 with multi frame generation, and stays efficient at around 145 W. For a card at this level those are real improvements in the feature set.
What is not
The memory configuration is unchanged from the 4060: 8 GB on a 128-bit bus. GDDR7 is faster, but capacity is what limits a card in a texture-heavy open world, and capacity did not grow.
Multi frame generation, honestly
Multi frame generation can display several generated frames per rendered one, which makes motion look very smooth. It does not reduce input delay, and it needs a healthy base frame rate to feel good. It is a smoothing tool, not a way to rescue a low frame rate.
Who should buy it for GTA 6
Someone building a compact or low-power 1080p system who wants current features. If you can afford a 16 GB card instead, the long-term case for the 8 GB version is weaker; the Ti variant of this generation exists with 16 GB for that reason.
Used cards with more memory
If your main concern is GTA 6 at 1080p, a used card with 12 GB, such as an RTX 3060 12 GB or an RX 6700 XT, can match or beat the 5060 in memory headroom. You give up DLSS 4 and the new-card warranty, so it is a trade, but the memory difference is exactly what matters most in a large open world.
What multi frame generation needs from the CPU
Generated frames are produced on the GPU, but the base frame rate they build on is still limited by the CPU. If a slow processor holds you at 35 FPS, multi frame generation will make the display look faster, yet it will still feel like 35 FPS in your hands.
A settings priority list for an 8 GB card
If frame rate or memory is short, change things in this order, and stop as soon as the game behaves:
- Switch on DLSS Quality at your output resolution.
- Lower volumetric fog and cloud quality, which are expensive for little visible loss.
- Lower shadow quality one step.
- Lower texture quality one step only if you see memory stutter.
- Leave ray tracing off.

Questions about the RTX 5060
RTX 5060 or RTX 4060?
The 5060 is faster, uses GDDR7 and adds DLSS 4 multi frame generation. The 8 GB limit is the same on both.
Is 8 GB enough in 2026?
For 1080p it still works, with texture quality managed. It is the weakest part of the card for a large, new open-world release.
Does it support ray tracing in GTA 6?
The hardware does. In a demanding open world it will likely need to stay low or off to hold a stable frame rate.
