The card that outruns its own memory
The 3060 Ti is a clear step faster than the plain 3060 and sits on a 256-bit bus, which gives it very good bandwidth for its class. On shader power alone it comfortably clears our minimum tier and is a candidate for 1080p at high settings.
Where eight gigabytes starts to bite
The limit shows up in two places: texture quality at 1440p and above, and streaming hitches while driving quickly through new areas of a large map. Neither is fatal. The usual fix is to drop textures one notch below maximum, which costs very little visible quality.
Frame-rate plan
Two profiles to try, assuming the game offers the standard options:
- 1080p, high settings, DLSS Quality: the profile this card is best at, aimed at a 60 FPS target.
- 1440p, DLSS Balanced or Performance, textures medium-to-high: playable, with 8 GB as the limit to watch.
- Ray tracing: off. It will cost more frames than this card can spare in an open world.
Keep it or replace it?
If you already own a 3060 Ti there is no reason to upgrade before the PC requirements are known. If you are shopping, cards with 12 GB or more are the safer long-term choice for a title of this scale.
Frame pacing matters more than the average
A game that averages 60 FPS but dips to 35 every few seconds feels worse than a steady 45. On an 8 GB card the dips usually come from memory pressure, so watch the "1% low" figure in an overlay tool rather than the average. If the lows are poor, lowering texture quality one step usually fixes it faster than anything else.
An older card deserves a check-up
The 3060 Ti launched in late 2020. If yours is several years old, dust in the cooler and dried thermal paste can quietly raise temperatures and trigger clock throttling. A cleaning and, if you are comfortable with it, fresh paste can restore lost performance before you spend anything on a new card.

Questions about the RTX 3060 Ti
Is 8 GB of VRAM enough on the 3060 Ti for GTA 6?
For 1080p at high settings it should be workable. At 1440p and above expect to lower texture quality to stay clear of memory limits.
RTX 3060 Ti or RTX 4060, which is better?
They are close in raster performance, with the 3060 Ti usually slightly ahead. The 4060 uses far less power and adds DLSS 3 frame generation, which the Ti lacks.
Can the 3060 Ti hold 60 FPS?
Our estimate says yes at 1080p with high settings and DLSS, and less reliably at 1440p. It is an estimate: there is no PC version to measure.
